New Years Greetings! I would like to report on a magical Christmas season with my child but the truth is, it was kinda Meh. First and most impactful, we went through much sickness. The baby was sick Christmas Eve and Christmas and then I was desperately sick Boxing Day and the two days beyond, like throw up everything and can't get out of bed sick. Which makes it hard to parent. But you must parent, for there is no one else to do it. I cursed and cursed childhood illness and everyone who was right, you do spend the first couple of years fighting stupid colds and viruses and frankly, it sucks. So yeah, it was low-key. We got some excellent packages from friends and relatives and that cheered me up. But all the special food I cooked was thrown out, which made me feel wasteful and guilty. And Simone seemed to like her presents, but of course she had no idea what was really going on. I hope it gets a little more magical next year and Santa doesn't bring me the stomach flu.
New Year equals lots of mulling, doesn't it? Whether you like it or not. I was so disappointed because I opened up my brand new Moleskine daily planner today - and it's the wrong format, not the kind I use faithfully every year with the full blank page next to each week so I can plan visually. I hope this does not bode poorly for the year, for I have some things to accomplish. I wish I could be more specific but my brain is dull from work and Library-related nonsense. Enough! I'll try again later.
