So I just got back from the Se@r's portrait studio - no, really! It was time to get my passport photos taken for yet another Canadian passport application (ours only last 5 years) and the wonders of G00gle revealed that the closest passport place was Se@rs. Which made me think - hmm, Christmas portrait opportunity for the baby! I have always wanted to see what lies inside a mysterious portrait studio. I took her in just a regular pink cotton dress and tights and the squeaky shoes - no red velvet numbers or anything - and requested a snowy/Christmas scene. 1.5 hours later we staggered out of the place, a sheet of contacts in my hand, exhausted. We went through four backdrops(including Winter Wonderland and Fireplace Fantasy), a fake sled, a fake windowseat, a teeny wicker chair, and a Night Before Christmas book. Many hours (it felt like) of squeaking of toys and tickling sessions and pleas to smile resulted in a few tentative grins. Fifty more minutes of digitized collages and pink borders and sepia toned options later (and of course 50,000 price options) and then the dreaded total. Not so bad, for "Baby's First Christmas", but not so cheap either. It's freaky what and how much I'll do for this kid. While I dream (seriously!) of grey Converse lo-tops, thinking maybe next paycheck, I get her new shoes and a photo session without blinking an eye. Cliche, but true, the baby comes first.
Then again, we bought some cheap(for what they normally are) but expensive (for our budget) tickets to Edmonton in January for a visit. But it's for her first birthday. So yeah, it's all about her - in a Santa hat, in front of a fake fireplace.
When did this become the baby/library school blog? Wait, when wasn't it?
