I am hunkering down on homework this weekend - pathfinder on American Foodways anyone? - which means plenty of crapola TV on in the background so I won't go crazy trying to think of different ways to say "useful" or "comprehensive". Thus, Felicity Season IV is playing. Dear TV, why does a woman's primary conflict and concern ALWAYS come down to her back and forth choice between two men? Over four seasons. Argh! (I hate Ben. Hate. And kinda wanna punch Noel in his puppy dog eyes.) Also, why, when one character has something to confess and the other character says "I wanted to say.." does the other character always interrupt with "Can I go first?" which is just the worst idea. Anyway. Though I am feeling Felicity's "what will I do when I grow up" angst. I decided this morning that, in lieu of an actual mentor or higher, guiding power who gave a crap about my future career path, I needed a giant wall-sized chart with post-it notes and flow-charts and Sharpies. Also, I need to insert "Digital" into my resume ASAP. Though I secretly believe in the power of material objects, you'll never hear it from me at a job interview. But AH reminded me that I have a year and half before graduating. You are right, sir. Speaking of AH, remember how last entry I was all happy about him booking the hotels for our little trip? Ha. I don't like booking hotels because for me it involves literally hours of poring over stupid old Tripassvisor and Orbits and Excutiatingpedia and reading through hundreds of reviews and giving them each individual weight and then finally pushing Submit and oh-my-god, it takes hours! So I was happy until I took a look at the Philly hotel. We do like not-necessarily-a-chain hotels that are a little different, even a little seedy is okay...but I looked at the reviews for this one and kind of maybe screamed "what were you thinking?!" Review after review mentioning mice and broken toilets and non-functioning heat and four-floor walk-ups and he got really sad and defensive and said "I know it's not the Best Westernsnoozeathon, but we like different!" Yes indeed, when we weren't sequestered to our hotel room post 7 pm due to a slumbering babe and could have stayed out til 2 am - then it wouldn't matter so much. But we have a kid who likes to crawl - on filthy filthy carpets. And I like to use a functioning toilet. "Oh yeah", he said. So I am also avoiding homework by doing stupid, stupid hotel searches. Philadelphia, be the city of Brotherly Love, and throw a girl an inexpensiv-ish and clean hotel room, won't you?
Also, I bought my kid some shoes today - they look like this and they gooddamn squeak when she walks which right now is so so cute. But I took note of the sage advisory on the package "Parents! Squeak can be easily removed!" Good to know that we may quickly tire of the squeak. But also, the website is awfully low-tech but aren't the rest of the shoes cute??? Baby shoes!
