Yesterday improved my outlook immensely. We met AH in the park at noon for a little Day Before Payday Picnic (aka clearing out the fridge with pizza bianco, cut veggies and dip, apples and caramel dip all of it homemade and done in an hour, thank you very much. Oh, and Cheerwine, the local soda that I am obsessed with.)The lady who runs the park came running over and took our photo. In a small town it is easy to make a splash just by doing things like using the park. She asked us what we wanted to see in the park and unveiled all the coming plans and for a second I again felt hopeful for this little town.
Then we went to vote in the primary - woo hoo NC counts in this one! - and well, actually AH voted and I waited outside kind of sadly. I so miss voting. I did hold a man's pug while he was voting as they didn't allow dogs inside - so I feel like I did my small Canadian part. Afterwards, I hung out in the bakery/cafe I frequent a little too often and eavesdropped on cute counterboy and interesting looking woman discussing "tickets" "concert" "Obama" and where the alleged ticket table was. I swung by there on the way home and lo, free tickets for an Arcade F1re and Sup3rchunk concert next Friday were handed to me. Canadians making music to support Obama - hoorah. I had to lie and said I had plans to vote for Obama but I don't feel guilty because you know I would if I could. (Speaking of immigration issues, after almost a year of "processing" my 10 year greencard Immigration sent a request for more evidence that AH and I are a couple. I hoped to knock that out of the park with the spawn we just produced but they want the usual 4 years of tax records, joint accounts, photos and friends and family have to submit signed affidavits saying we are totally in love and married still. it never ends.)

Upon arriving home I was notified that I apparently have a job that I've been coveting - I can't say too much about it right now but it's part-time, I can do it from home and it involves being paid well to read and be critical. This and the sunny afternoon necessitated a trip to a patio for a beer to celebrate.
And tomorrow we leave for ABQ to visit the family and show off the baby. I have my fingers crossed for some babysitting.

All this makes me feel so much better. That and Flight of the Conchords from Netflix. And sun. And thanks for stopping by Make!Do!, it really really means a lot. Happy weekend!
