This week has entered the pantheon of the Parentings Worst Week Hall of Fame. It's not over yet but with the return of sunshine and blue sky, my spirits are lifted considerably so I can write about it with some detachment. Seriously, the last three days blew - which in my case manifests itself as scary crying jags while intoning "Help help help". The rainy days (and having nothing to do) have kept me and a teething growling baby who needs constant distraction indoors, doing endless mind-numbing laps of the bassinet, the papasan, the playmat, shaking the same toys in her face over and over. The second I walk out of her peripheral vision Baby Not Happy which makes doing um, ANYTHING but shaking a toy in her face rather difficult. The good news is she goes to bed between 8:30 and 9:00 pm but she also gets up at 6:30-7:00 so that is when the workday - and the routine - begins.
Magnifying these common complaints is the other facts - lonely for friends and family that could just drop by or I could walk over to see, the rain keeping us indoors, not having anywhere to go anyway because I live in NC people, and there is just nowhere to go. No riverwalk or stroll down to the beach or open air market or coffeeshops - a sidewalk would be nice, a sidewalk is all I ask. I miss miss miss my Westcoast cities and friends so much right now. We knew this would be hard - and it is. But like I said, today the sun is out, the birds are on the feeder, I'm plotting a lunchtime picnic with AH and the baby. And I know in a few months I'll be rushing from daycare to school to work so damnit, enjoy this time. Every tedious moment of it.

The project I alluded to last post is my new internet side project Make!Do! a little site about my little projects. Similar in philosophy I suppose to Maven's Thrifty Site it's intended to document and explore my efforts to take thrift to a new level. This is definitely a beta version, much tinkering is underway. I hope to have some of my very talented friends chip in as well. Take a look. Ahem. Enough promotion.
