Happy Friday! And it is happy, isn't it? Is the sun shining in your corner of the world? I hope so. I am bursting with a kind of annoying good cheer today because I crossed most of the items off my To Do list and there is NOTHING better than a To Do list riddled with black ink slashes. Done! Done! Done! It makes me feel like a successful human being and having revived my daybook makes me feel much better in general. So what have I done this week? Well I applied for some city government positions on board and commissions because I figured I complain enough about this city - I should see if I can make it better. I also asked my favourite local institution (hint: it rhymes with Menter of Focumentary Vudies)if I could volunteer with them while on maternity leave and they are not only willing but excited to fit me in. I actually went there last night on my first outing sans bebe - one whole hour and a half alone, the first in 7 weeks if you can believe it. I can't. I saw a photo editor/writer give a presentation on a new exhibit of the photographs of Mike Disfarmer. Here's a link, if you can be bothered, but if you like weird outsider art, found art and black and white portraits from the 30's and 40's small town American, well then by all means, click here: Disfarmer! I enjoyed myself though, and seeing Simone's little face again was pretty happy-making - after only 1.5 hours separation! But trust me, I'm not scared/sad/unwilling to leave her with a babysitter which for now is AH, as we don't know anyone else we could bother, at all. In fact, I look forward to finding a babysitter so I can take weekly breathers. I also applied for scholarships, lined up daycare tours, got my farm CSA arranged for the spring and summer which I am thrilled about, booked my driving test, emailed people, typed 10 pages of my forever-taking YA novel, did Yoga 3 times, and researched Charleston and NYC hotels. I also just got to sit in the sun and have a latte with a sleeping baby and the Friday NY Times crossword which I finished with zero help. (Did anyone do yesterday's NYT crossword? It was so damn simple yet elegant that I had to look the creator up on the internet, something I have never ever done before). I'm not sure why you should care about all this. Why don't I just scan in my To Do list and be done with it? Anyway. I have more to write about E for excellent bloggers and the Nielsen TV ratings - stay right there, on the edge of your seats - but aforementioned baby has visit number 3457 to the Dr. to make sure she is gaining sufficient weight. Trust me, if her cheeks are any indication, they will be satisfied with us today. Excellent weekend to you all.
